Atypical Depression - And Its Various Causes

It is a subtype of Major Depression which is characterized by mood reactivity. This type of depression is completely depends upon the mood of the person. In this case people generally experience improved mood in response to positive events. There are various causes of Atypical Depression which include:
- Various type of medications which generally includes medicines for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and for irregular heartbeat.
- It also occurs due to sleep disturbances.
- Sometimes more exposure to light can also lead to atypical depression.
- Heredity condition can also be responsible for atypical depression. If the person has family history of depression then it is possible that he/she might also suffer from atypical depression.
- Long term or chronic stress may also lead to atypical depression
- Eating less nutritional food may also cause atypical depression.
- If the person has a history of abuse such as mental, physical, or sexual abuse.
- Habit of alcohol or drug can also lead to atypical depression. According to a research near about 25% of people with addictions have depression.
