A person has to go for a physical checkup to identify the nerve functioning, enlarged glands or any other signs. Moreover, a sufferer has to give an interview that will be based on symptoms of bipolar disorder like time period of racing thoughts and risky behavior. The doctors may prescribe to check blood clots, tumors and bleeding by ordering head tests like CT scan and MRI.
Blood or urine tests may be suggested to examine the balance of salt and sugar in blood, hormone function, and drug and alcohol level. These tests are recommended when the initial manic happens after 40 that help to rule out the medical condition that cause rapid mood change.
The final treatment of bipolar disorders will be done only after the results of any of the above tests. The diagnosis is likely to be a bipolar disorder, if the results are normal.
