Depression in Seniors: What Are The Common Symptoms?

People who are above the age of 65 commonly suffer from the problem of depression. Various factors such as lack of mobility, physical illness, social isolation, loneliness can lead to depression in elder people. Some people starts imagine that as they are old, now they have to face various trouble of life.
Despite of all these problems, many older people are satisfied with their lives. Depression is not normal, at any age. It can occur to anybody from a child to aged person. It may also be possible that aged person may have different symptoms of depression as compare to younger people.
According to American Academy of Family Physicians some of the common symptoms which are found in aged people include:
- Seniors those are suffering from depression do not show any interest in the activities, including that one, which they were enjoyed in the past.
- They always feel sad, numbness, worthlessness or guilty.
- Start crying without any reason.
- Feel tired, slow, restless or irritable.
- Change in appetite and sleep patterns.
- Have problem in remembering or concentrating.
- Frequently suffer from headaches, back pain, digestive disorders etc.
