Music has the incredible power to evoke our sentiments. It just enters into our blood when we hear different kinds of songs i.e. from a strong national anthem to classical to hip hop, its power amazingly shifts our mind towards harmony. Moreover, it eases out the muscles tension and remove depression. In today’s competitive world, more and more people are falling under depression due to the word load or uncontrollable situations. These situations ask for effective stress busters and the only tool that greatly works is soothing music. The stress management tools such as yoga, meditation, therapies, massage demand to do at a particular time such as morning and evening. But music is the only anti depressant tool that can be listened at any time.
Music can lower down the blood pressure, stroke risk, heart related disease, increase immunity and balance the heart rate. The amazing power of music does not stop here only. The negative thought, stress and depression can extremely ruin the life of the people and to shell out these culprits from life, music is the best and the most affordable healer. Researchers have shown that music shifts the mind to calmness and meditative state.
Mind is the greatest gift given to human beings and it can be the worst enemy many times as well. The mind ailment should be taken as a serious problem and must be cured as soon as possible. Besides the clinical method, music is the one such thing that has got a worldwide importance. It is a language that is understandable by every living creature such as human beings, animals, birds and plants. The healing and soothing music brings tranquility to the disturbed and stressful mind. After a hectic and tight schedule, the music dose really refreshes and distresses the mind and body.
Music is constructed according to the different situations like in emotional situations, we generally feel like listening calm and soothing songs instead of rock and hip hop songs. In 16th century, Robert Burton has written in his classic work, The Anatomy of Melancholy which means that music and dance has the extreme power in curing mental sickness, primarily melancholia i.e. depression. Music can be listened as a wellness method in different manners like listen to music for 14-20 minutes after and before bed time, on the way to office, in workplace, at home with leisure.
No doubt to say that music is instrumental in curing the bunch of depression, mental illness and stress of a person. Hard to believe but it is true that in recent years music is used as a therapy on patients for calming their mind and body.

You may have turned me around to using music before and after sleep. I have used podcasts as a sleep aid for a couple of years, however they would have nowhere near the soothing qualities of music. Did you get your information about music and depression from research? Also do you recommend particular music?
