You can also help yourself to get rid from depression. If you are feeling sad and do not want to see anybody or not want to do anything then in that case you are suffering from depression. Isolation and inactiveness also make the condition worse. So in order to feel better you have to remain active physically, mentally, and socially.

Some of the ways by which you can prevent yourself from depression especially elders include:

  1. Go out side from the home – Do not remain at home through out the day, go to the park, have a lunch with friend etc.
  2. Socialize yourself – Always keep in touch with your friends. Try to become more and more socialize. Invites your friend and also do visit them.
  3. Participate in activities – Take part in those activities which you like most. Pursue your hobbies such as painting, music etc.
  4. Help others – You can also feel better by helping others.
  5. Taking care of a pet – Get a pet to keep you company.
  6. Learn something new – One of the best ways to engage yourself in some work is to pick that work which you always want to do or learn but can’t do or pursue.
  7. Take Healthy diet – Always take healthy Diet. It is not only important for your physical health but also makes you mentally strong.
  8. Exercise - Exercise is yet another by which you can feel better and strong. It also helps you to gain your strength and boost your mood.
  9. Enjoying jokes and stories – Laughter provides a mood boost, so enjoy humorous stories and jokes with your loved ones.
