It is advisable that until and unless the situation does not become critical, you stick to the anti depressants and anti anxiety medications. Yoga and meditation is also helpful to reduce its existence.

From what I’ve heard ECT can have significant and immediate effects on depression — but for some people it has no effect. It’s quite a radical treatment, so not something that should be tried by people who haven’t explored other methods - but sometimes it can be effective for people who nothing else has worked on.
Drug and CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural therapy) should definitely be explored before ECT is considered as an option though, and only in rare cases when recommended by a medical professional.
